If your ‘For You Page’ looks anything like mine, the Italian Disco duo Mind Enterprises is everywhere. I could not escape the cigarette-smoking, Campari-drinking D.J. duo even if I wanted to— which I don’t.

It is hereby declared as Italian Disco summer!

Italian Disco, more properly known as Italo Disco, first came to exist in the late 1970s. This very specific genre of music evolved from the underground pop, dance and electronic scene in Europe. Although American interest in disco sharply declined after Disco Demolition Night in 1979, the genre maintained its mainstream popularity overseas into the 1980s. It is defined by its heavy use of electronic drums, drum machines and synthesizers. It is usually sung in English, and to a lesser extent Spanish and Italian.

Italo Disco eventually faded out in the early 1990s and split into three main categories: Eurobeat, Italo house and Italo dance. The days of disco were a thing of the past… until now! Mind Enterprises is singlehandedly keeping the Italo Disco genre alive in 2025. Their music is the soundtrack of the summer.

Who is the Italian Disco duo Mind Enterprises?

Mind Enterprises is the brainchild of Turin-born producer Andrea Tirone. He and Sicilian synth master Roberto Conigliaro draw inspiration from the fizzy Italo music that swept their home country in the 80s. Their sound is defined by groovy basslines, hypnotic drum patterns and cosmic keyboard melodies. Their aesthetic is focused on classic 80s clothing, cigarettes and Campani.
