The Texas basketball team picked up a rivalry win over Texas A&M on Saturday in Austin. Head coach Rodney Terry was excited with his team’s come-from-behind victory.

Terry was seen celebrating with his tongue out while walking through the postgame handshake line. One Aggie player’s mom took offense to the disrespectful taunt.

The coach’s excitement stemmed from an incredible second half effort that saw the Longhorns overcome a 22-point deficit to win 70-69. While shaking hands with his opponent, Terry turned to the crowd with his arms raised to hype the fans.

The reaction was understandable given how the game played out, but it was also hypocritical due to a prior instance. Rodney Terry threw a tantrum last year after opposing players greeted Texas with ‘Horns Down’ gestures following a win.

Terry called UCF “classless” for celebrating the win. He then did the same thing on Saturday against the Aggies. One Texas A&M player’s mom blasted the hypocrisy on social media.

Cynthia Coleman is the mother of forward Henry Coleman. She didn’t appreciate Terry skipping past her son’s handshake to taunt Texas A&M.

Coleman landed a technical foul early in the second half. Head coach Buzz Williams refused to comment on the ruling after the game.

Tensions were obviously high in the rivalry matchup. Depending on what side you’re on, the postgame interaction can be viewed quite differently.

Rodney Terry clearly got under the Aggies’ skin with his reaction to the win. The victory avenged the Longhorns’ 20-point loss in College Station earlier in the month.
