Illinois UFC Champ Walks Out With Palestinian Flag To Make Statement

UFC

UFC champ Belal Muhammad got his wish and has been allowed to carry around his Palestinian flag. Last month, Muhammad complained that the UFC had removed his flag from his profile on UFC’s website.

“I’ll address [this] and hope that Dana addresses it as well, fixes it – because Dana said he’s all about free speech, he’s all about people supporting who they wanna support, and not muting or silencing anybody. So, I’m hoping that the UFC fixes this issue and puts my flag next to my name, so the people that I represent, the people that I fight for, and the people that I train for will see their flag next to their champion’s name.”

Eventually, UFC CEO Dana White allowed Muhammad to represent Palestine at UFC events, and the Chicago native said he will walk out with the flag ahead of his fight at UFC 315.

“We’ve talked about it and they’ve accepted it,” Muhammad told MMA Fighting. “Nothing is going to stop me from doing it.

“It’s been over two years now where they’re dying, they’re starving, the people over there are in so much pain. The world’s just watching it. The world’s just coming up with excuses for it. It’s wild.”

On Friday, Muhammad was draped in the Palestinian flag when he faced off against Jack Della Maddalena ahead of their fight.
