The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers played in an exciting Game 2 of the NHL Playoffs on Friday night, which the road team won in overtime. One Panthers supporter made the trip to enemy territory and was greeted by unruly opposing fans.
He detailed that greeting on social media in a POV video. The scene was hostile!
The Panthers and Oilers are located nearly 3,000 miles away. That distance was not a deterrent for this loyal Florida diehard. He left the United States for Canada over the weekend to root his team on in Edmonton.
The Oilers had the luxury of playing the first two games in their home venue. A packed house at Rogers Place was seen for both contests. The crowd went home happy in Game 1 thanks to a walk-off goal from Leon Draisaitl in overtime.

Edmonton took a 1-0 series lead with that win. They’d hoped to move to 2-0 before having the Finals flip to Florida for Games 3 and 4. The Panthers wouldn’t allow it to happen.
After falling behind 3-2 in the first period, Florida used a big second frame to take a 4-3 lead. Edmonton tied things up in the third, forcing overtime in the final seconds of regulation.
Eight minutes in, Brad Marchand found the back of the net for the Panthers. That goal effectively evened the series. Those that made the trip from the Sunshine State returned home happy.
Florida Panthers fan recaps hostile trip to enemy territory.

The fan detailed his trip to Rogers Place. The opposing crowd was not friendly.
Oilers supporters were seen flipping him the bird, chirping obscenities in his direction, and even smacking his phone from out of his hand. He didn’t let it phase him!
The fan remained cool, calm, and collected amid the hostility. He then got the last laugh with Marchand’s overtime game-winner. He was able to walk out of Edmonton with a smile on his face and that Panthers logo repped proudly across his chest.
Game 3 is set for Monday night. The Finals will head south to Florida. It will provide a completely different environment should this fan choose to attend.
