Earlier this month, media personality Alex Cooper accused her former soccer coach at Boston University, Nancy Feldman, of years of harassment. Cooper made the claims in a new Hulu documentary titled Call Her Alex.
Cooper, the host of the popular Call Her Daddy podcast, claimed in the documentary which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in New York, that Feldman made numerous inappropriate overtures towards her while she was a member of the soccer team. Feldman, Boston University’s women’s soccer team from 1995 to 2022, allegedly also inappropriately touched Cooper and repeatedly asked Cooper to discuss her sex life. Cooper added that when she approached an attorney about possibly filing a lawsuit against Feldman and Boston University she was told that the school would just drag the case out for “years” so she never went forward with it.
Alex Cooper attended Boston University from 2013 to 2015. Shortly thereafter, Cooper began gaining fame while dating then New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard, eventually parlaying that fame into a podcasting job with Barstool Sports, which was then spun off into a lucrative deal with Spotify, then SiriusXM.
On Monday, TMZ revealed that 99 former Boston University women’s soccer players have come out in defense of Nancy Feldman amid Alex Cooper’s allegations of harassment. The letter was shared with the media outlet by a representative of BU Women’s Soccer alumni.
While stating that they are not trying to “diminish or discredit anyone’s individual experience,” the former BU soccer players said they “categorically never felt unsafe” while playing for Feldman.
“We were never at risk of or witness to inappropriate behavior or anything that could be characterized as sexual harassment,” the letter reads. “As a leader, she approached every day with professionalism, making decisions in service of the success of the team.”
The former soccer players also added that even after graduating from Boston University, Nancy Feldman “has remained an important part of our lives, and we shall stand by her.”
The letter from the BU alumni came just as Cooper doubled down on her claims of harassment on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast.
Also, last week, the school responded to Alex Cooper’s allegations, stating, “Boston University has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student well being and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office. We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all.”
According to the school’s website, Cooper played in 49 games for the Terriers, scored one goal and had one assist.
