Ashton Jeanty is the best running back in college football. Boise State’s bell cow ball-carrier has scored more points this season by himself than Florida State as an entire team.
Although that wild statistic applies to more than just the Seminoles, they were ranked inside the preseason top-10 so it is especially mind-blowing in this context.
Jeanty, a junior, is averaging eight yards per carry this season. He has yet to rush for less than 120 yards in any single game and was removed from the game at halftime on a few different occasions.
The 5-foot-9, 215-pound running back is one of the top candidates for the Heisman Trophy as a result of his dominant performance every single week. Jeanty is currently chasing Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing title and continues to fall forward on every carry. His numbers are unmatched in recent history.

In addition to all of the yardage, Jeanty also finds the end zone on very frequent occasion. He has at least one touchdown in all but one game (pulled before halftime) and at least two touchdowns in five of eight games. That includes Friday night!
Boise State beat San Diego State 56-24. The Broncos kept Jeanty in the game through all four quarters and quite obviously padded his stats with some goal line carries late in the evening.
